Activites in the Dreamers room foster learning through play, songs, simple sounds, smells, textures, and more. Teachers spend a lot of one-on-one time with each child and recognize that each child is an individual and must learn and grow at his or her own pace. We work closely with parents to create a schedule that works best for each child and his or her family.
Moonbeams enjoy center play, singing, and lots of hands-on learning activities, especially art. In a room full of growing toddlers, the days are full of busy one-, two- and sometimes three-step directional teaching. Parent involvement and communication is encouraged.
As they transition to preschool age, the Stars are emerged in a hands-on learning environment filled with art, music, science, reading, blocks, field trips, and more. The Stars room is full of fun, laughter, imagination, and curiosity. We value our Stars as individuals and support and encourage them to share their thoughts, feelings, and ideas.
Our Super Stars continue building the skills developed in the Star room. We encourage hands on learning with a focus on language development, fine motor activities, and social-emotional well being. The Super Stars enjoy interacting with their peers during playtime, expressing themselves through art and music, and exploring their imagination with books.
Learning through play and hands-on experience is the philosophy in this classroom; our ultimate goal is that each child will become an independent, free-thinking, problem-solving, sociable person, well prepared for kindergarten and beyond. If we were bragging (and we are), we would say that we consistently graduate children who are more than ready for "big" school. Rockets Rule!
Ms. Alesha has more than 25 years of childcare experience. Her love for children and childcare began at Chapel Hill High School, where she worked in the High School Pre-K program. She went on to get her degree in Early Childhood Education and has been with Childcare Matters for 25 years.
At Childcare Matters, Alesha works closely with staff and parents to provide a safe, fun, nurturing, and loving learning environment for all children. She strongly feels staff should give children the best eight hours while in our care. Childcare is not just a job, it has to be a love and a passion for the perfect people to work with our children.
A Chapel Hill native, Alesha lives in Chatham county with her husband and two children. In her free time, she is a youth leader at her church and enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading spiritual books, and listening to music.
