Childcare Matters Receives Grant

This spring, Childcare Matters was honored to receive a partial grant from Strowd Roses to help fund work on our new playground. In August 2015, the center moved to its new location at 825 Estes Drive and began work on updating the facilities. Staff and families cited the playground as a priority area, and identified a wish list of improvements including new fencing and sandboxes.

This grant allows the center to install new fencing and replace older infrastructure. The new fence layout will improve accessibly and expand the play areas for both the infants and toddlers and the 2-5 year olds.

This marks the first step in a long-term plan to add additional play equipment and structures to the playground. A parent group has developed a sketch of the new playground and is looking for additional community and foundation support.

Childcare Matters is pleased to thank Strowd Roses for their support. Established in 2001 under the will of Mrs. Irene Harrison Strowd, this private charitable foundation funds local nonprofits and projects that improve the quality of life for residents of Chapel Hill and Carrboro.
